Shipping, Pickup & Local Delivery

How your order gets to you

Coffee shipping and delivery

Coffee goes out from Belmond, Iowa — anywhere in the US, and to a couple of dozen countries. In town, any order from the website comes to your door free. Here is the cost and the timing; the formal version is our shipping policy.

The short answer

US orders of $35 or more ship free

$35.00 exactly counts, not a penny over. No code, no club — the shipping charge just comes off at checkout. Under that, one flat $8.00 to any US address.

The Trio — Honduras, Ethiopia and Espresso Blend, three 12 oz bags for $45 — ships free on its own. So do two 12 oz bags ($38), or one 2 lb bag ($43).

In Belmond, none of it applies. Delivery in town is free on any online order.

Outside the US, the carrier quotes your rate at checkout.

If you live here

Free delivery in Belmond

Free · at checkout

No rules on it at all

The best thing we offer in town, and almost nobody knows about it: pick free delivery at checkout, like any other shipping method.

Any order, any size, any time. No minimum, no cutoff, no need to call ahead or say you are local. Any Belmond address can use it.

After you order

What happens next

  1. Step 1 — your order reaches us

A confirmation email goes out the moment the order goes through. If it isn't there in a few minutes, check promotions and spam.

  2. Step 2 — we pack it

Every bag is packed by hand here in Belmond. Most orders leave within a day or two.

  3. Step 3 — it goes out

US orders travel USPS, and a second email brings the tracking number.

USPS usually takes 2 to 5 days from there. That's what we normally see. Once it is handed over the box is on the carrier's clock, and your tracking number is the thing that knows where it is.

Changed your mind, or typed the wrong address? Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com any time before it ships — the address, the size, the grind, or the whole order. No fee, no argument.

The clock is the only catch — see step 2. After it ships it becomes a refund-policy question.

Small batch

Roasted here, packed here, dated on the bag

The roaster is a Mill City drum, behind the counter at 231 E Main St, in full view of everyone who walks in, with burlap sacks on the wall behind it. Our original roaster sits by the checkout, where you can have a proper look at it.

Every batch is roasted by hand and dialled in for that bean, and every bag is hand-packed. From the About page: we do not sit on inventory for months. Your order ships as fresh as we can possibly make it.

The roast date is printed on the bag

The day that coffee was roasted, printed on the bag you get. It's the number coffee people look for, and not one you often find on a grocery shelf.

Ground the way you brew

Whole Bean or Ground at checkout, every size, same price. Brewing on something particular — espresso, drip, pour over, French press, cold brew, a commercial urn? Put it in the special requests box when you add the bag to your cart and that is the grind you get. Forgot? Email us and we will sort it.

Brew methods and grind live on the Coffee Lab.

Coverage

Where we ship, and what it costs

Inside the United States

One flat $8.00 to any US address, free at $35.00 or more. It travels USPS.

Outside the United States

We ship to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. If your country isn't listed, checkout will still try to quote a rate.

Rates come live from USPS, DHL Express or FedEx, so you see the real number before you pay. The $35 line is for US addresses only, and the 2-to-5-day figure is domestic; an overseas box takes as long as it takes.

If something goes sideways

Late packages, and 30 days to tell us

It's late, or it never turned up

Packages take longer than they should, stop scanning, or get marked delivered when they plainly aren't. Write to us whenever that happens — there's no waiting period on our end. No "give it another ten days first". We'll chase it with you.

It arrived damaged, or it just isn't right

You have 30 days from the day your order reaches you. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com and describe the issue; an order number and a photo help. Then you pick: a full refund, or a replacement. Your call.

Nothing goes back in the mail. Coffee is perishable, so we don't ask you to prove anything. Keep the bag. Refunds typically show up in 3 to 5 business days, depending on your bank. We usually reply the same day; the refund policy commits to one business day.

All times are Central.

What's on the shelf. It moves. Honduras and the Espresso Blend are almost always there, plus at least three others rotating, most of them bagged both ground and whole bean. Want something else? Ask. Prices are marked, there are in-person-only deals now and then, and there's a loyalty card.

What's on the board. Espresso drinks, frappes, smoothies, thirty-one Lotus flavours, and a black coffee that rotates daily — all of it on the visit page.

The food. Biscuits and gravy every morning, and a bakery case — the rack is on the visit page, the gluten sign on the FAQ.

A handful of really nice four-person tables, outlets and wifi.

Holidays. We're usually open most holidays, often at least part of the day. It varies year to year, so the hours for each one go up on Facebook beforehand. Any change of hours goes on our Facebook page — check before a special trip.

Still wondering

Questions we get

Can I pick an order up, or get coffee for a crowd?

Not through the website: there's no pickup or order-ahead at checkout. In Belmond, pick free delivery instead.

One exception, and a big one. For a large or catering order — brewed coffee for an event, bags for a group or an office — email us and we'll put it together and hold it for you. Mugs, tumblers and t-shirts go in quantity the same way.

Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com or call (641) 384-4163 with what you need and when.

Is everything you sell on the website?

Nearly. All the coffee, the chocolates, the granola and the merch ship.

A few things only ever live on the shelf in Belmond: local honey, a French press, stickers and note cards. Same for anything out of the bakery case. Want one sent with an order? Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com and ask — we'd rather work it out than tell you no.

Can I order wholesale?

Yes, and private label with it — every term is on the wholesale page, priced per account.
