Talk to the shop directly
One inbox, and two numbers depending on what you need. Write to thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com or call (515) 408-2748, and say what you need in plain words. Ordering drinks to pick up? Ring the counter on (641) 384-4163.
Every bag is roasted and packed by hand at 231 E Main Street, with the roaster behind the counter in full view. Rather not write? Come in and watch it work. We are open every day.
Where to write
Three ways to reach us
All three land in the same inbox. Only the subject line changes.
-
A problem with an order
Wrong bag, a missing item, something damaged, a package that has stopped moving. No waiting period — if it looks wrong to you, write now.
Please include
- Your order number — it is in your confirmation email
- The name the order was placed under
- A photo, if anything arrived damaged
The refund policy covers what happens next.
Email about an orderSubject: Order problem - order #
-
Wholesale, private label and bulk
Coffee for a cafe, an office or a church, bags with your own name on the front, or mugs, tumblers and shirts in quantity. The minimum, the terms and the private label offer are on the wholesale page.
Pricing is quoted per account. Say what you need and Cain will quote it.
Email about wholesaleSubject: Wholesale inquiry
-
Events, big local orders, and everything else
Brewed coffee for an event, a stack of bags for a group, an order held for you to collect, press, market invitations, questions from other roasters. We are open to anything — just ask.
Please include
- What you are planning, and roughly how many people
- The date, if there is one
- What you would need from us
There is no pickup at checkout, so this is also how you collect an order in person: email first and we will set it aside.

It only exists because we are a few blocks away. It is for orders off the website — bags, mugs, t-shirts. Drinks from the café are a counter job — and if you want a few of them, or want them at a set time, call the shop on (641) 384-4163 and we will have them ready.
Not in Belmond? Shipping costs are below, and the shipping and delivery page has the rest.
Before you write
You might not need to email us
Most of what lands in the inbox has a short answer.
Where is my order, and can I still change it?
Two emails go out: a confirmation when you order, a tracking number when it ships. Most orders leave within a day or two, and USPS usually takes another two to five days. That is what we normally see; your tracking number knows the rest.
Until it ships, anything can change: size, grind, address, or the whole order cancelled. Email your order number and say what you want; sooner is better.
If tracking goes quiet, write and we will look it up. More on the shipping and delivery page.
What if a bag is damaged, wrong, or just not for you?
You have 30 days from the day it reaches you. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com and describe the issue. That is the whole process.
Coffee is perishable, so there is no physical return. You choose: a full refund, or a replacement. Refunds typically appear within 3 to 5 business days, depending on your bank. Our refund policy is the authority.
What does shipping cost?
Inside the United States, a flat $8.00 to every address, free once the order reaches $35.00 — exactly $35 counts.
We ship abroad too: twenty-seven countries have their own zone, with a rest-of-world zone behind it, quoted at checkout by USPS, DHL Express or FedEx. Free shipping is domestic only.
How do I know how fresh it is?
The roast date is printed on the bag: the day that coffee came out of the roaster. No code to decipher.
As the about page puts it: we do not sit on inventory for months, and your order ships as fresh as we can possibly make it.
What sizes, and can I get it ground?
Three sizes — 12 oz, 2 lb and 5 lb — each in Ground or Whole Bean at the same price, picked on the product page.
Any grind, made to order: espresso, drip, pour over, French press, cold brew, a commercial urn. Put it in the special requests box when you add the bag to your cart. Forgot? Email us and we will sort it.
The Trio is three 12 oz bags and ships free on its own; everything else is on the coffee page.
Can I buy bags there, and what is it like inside?
Yes. Bags are on the shelf on Main Street, prices marked, with in-person sales you will not see online. Honduras and the Espresso Blend are almost always there, plus at least three rotating, most already bagged ground and whole bean — ask at the counter for anything else. Local honey, a French press, stickers and note cards never make the website, and local people sell their own things with us.
Inside: a Mill City drum roaster with burlap coffee sacks on the wall behind it, our original roaster over by the checkout, a handful of really nice four-person tables, outlets and wifi. Ask for a loyalty card if you come in often.
The shelf changes, so call (641) 384-4163 before driving over for one particular coffee.
What is on the drink board, and in the case?
A full board of espresso drinks, frappes, smoothies and Lotus energy drinks, plus biscuits and gravy and a bakery case — all of it named on the visit page.
Some of the baking is gluten friendly but not celiac safe; the shop's sign is quoted in full on the FAQ page. Managing a real allergy? Call or email first.
Parking, and how easy is it to get in?
Free street parking on Main Street, plus handicap parking. The entrance is accessible and so is the bathroom, though the bathroom is tight — better to know now.
If a trip depends on any of this, call (641) 384-4163 and ask first.
Do you have a decaf?
Yes. The Decaf is Colombian Huila, done with the natural Ethyl Acetate process — warm malt and brown sugar. There is also Half-Caffeine, our espresso blend cut with the Colombia decaf.
More questions and answers are on the FAQ page.
