Wholesale & Bulk Coffee

Wholesale & private label

Your name on the bag. Our roaster behind it.

Send us a logo and a name and we will make the bags. It is your coffee, on your shelf, under your brand — and the bag says roasted by The Golden Hopper.

We are taking new wholesale accounts right now, and we would like yours. Cafes, offices, churches, hotels, schools, fundraisers, events. Minimum order $150, invoiced net 30, ready within a week, samples free. Tell us what you serve and roughly how much you go through; we usually reply the same day.

Wholesale does not go through the website. There is no account to open at checkout and nothing to add to a cart. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com or call Cain on (515) 408-2748 and we will set it up with you.

Separately: if your business is in Belmond, anything you order off the website in the ordinary way is delivered free. No minimum, no cutoff.

The main event

Private label: your brand, our roastery

We make the bags, filled with coffee we roast by hand here in Belmond. The only thing on that bag that is ours is the line saying who roasted it.

It is a house coffee with your own name on it, without buying a roaster.

  • Our three sizes 12 oz, 2 lb and 5 lb — the same bags we use ourselves. Something other than those is a special job, so ask us first and we will tell you what is possible.
  • Your own blend, if you want one Our Espresso Blend is four origins put together here. We will build one to your spec.
  • Free samples first No charge, no deposit. Brew it on your own equipment.
  • Artwork and labels Have a logo ready, or need the design worked up and the labels ordered? Say so when you write and we will sort that part out with you.
  • Ready within a week Once you confirm the order.
  • $150 minimum order
  • Invoiced net 30
  • Samples are free
  • Standing orders welcome
  • Whole bean preferred

Come to us with an idea we have never done — a blend nobody else sells, an infused coffee, something odd for one weekend. Ask anyway. We are open to it.

Where it comes from

The same coffee we roast for our own shop

The roaster is ten feet from where you order. It sits behind the counter at 231 E Main St, in full view of everyone who walks in. Our original roaster is over by the checkout. Every batch is small, roasted by hand and dialed in for that bean, and every bag is packed by hand here too.

We make more than a hundred drinks a day out of that room. Lattes, breves, mochas, caramel macchiatos, americanos, brewed coffee. Frappes, smoothies and dessert smoothies. Chai, honey oat matcha, hot chocolate, apple cider, frozen hot cocoa. Thirty-one flavours of Lotus, the plant-based energy drink, with new ones added often. Biscuits and gravy every morning, and fresh baked goods made in house — some ours, some from our shared-kitchen member Crust & Crumb. So we are not guessing at what this coffee does in a busy kitchen. We run one.

Every bag carries the day it was roasted. The roast date is the honest number, and most grocery-shelf bags will not tell you it. We do not sit on inventory for months.

We have been to Honduras: visited the farms, met the growers, and we pay above premium market price to the Hacia el Futuro co-op. The rest is on the About page.

The machine your coffee comes off

A Mill City drum roaster, out in the shop rather than in a back room. If our coffee might go on your menu, come and watch it work.

A Mill City Roasters drum roaster: a stainless steel drum with a badged front, a control panel of red and green switches below it, a cooling tray to one side and silver exhaust ducting running up to the ceiling. Burlap coffee sacks hang on the white block wall behind it, one of them stamped Brazil Microlot, beside a cut-metal sign reading The Golden Hopper, Craft Coffee Roasting.
Every bag we would send you comes off this machine.

Your brand on the front. Roasted by The Golden Hopper on the back.

Who this is for

Businesses we can supply

Tell us which one you are and we will answer for your case.

Cafes and restaurants

Your coffee has to taste right on a slow Tuesday and a full Saturday morning. Every bean gets its own profile, worked out here.

Offices, churches, schools and non-profits

Nobody wants to be the one who finds the empty tin at 8am. Tell us how fast your people drink it and we set up a standing order, invoiced net 30.

Hotels and bed-and-breakfasts

Tell us how you brew downstairs and how you brew in the rooms, and we match it. Guests take a private-label bag home with them.

Events, fundraisers and gifts

12 oz bags work as favors, 5 lb bags fill the urns, and the chocolates, the granola and the merch ride along on the same order.

None of the above?

Then tell us anyway. We are open to anything, and the answer is usually yes. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com or call Cain on (515) 408-2748 and describe what you have in mind.

How it works

What happens when you write to us

Nothing commits you to anything until you say the order is on.

  1. You tell us what you need

What you serve, roughly how much you go through, whole bean or ground, whether you want your own bag, and when you need it by. A guess is fine.

  2. We send you samples, free

No charge, no deposit, nothing to sign. Brewing it on your own equipment is the only way to know whether it fits.

  3. We come back with real numbers

Your price at your volume, and how we would get it to you. The minimum is $150, invoiced net 30. The rate depends on what you are asking for, so it is quoted per account.

  4. Artwork, if you want your own bag

Send us your logo, the name you want on it and the bag size.

  5. Your first order, inside a week

In Belmond we deliver it; anywhere else it ships. After that, a standing order runs at whatever pace suits you.

What we can supply

Ten coffees

Medium and dark is where we have the most variety. Single origins rotate through over time. Tasting notes are on each product page.

For an account, the dependable three are Honduras, Ethiopia and our Espresso Blend. Those run all year. If your menu has to say the same thing every week, build it on those; others can come on top.

Sizes you can order today

You do not have to wait for an account

All ten come in three sizes on the website, each one whole bean or ground at the same price. If you want it ground, we grind to order for whatever you brew on:

  • 12 oz — $19.00
  • 2 lb — $43.00
  • 5 lb — $80.00

For a lot of kitchens, a standing order of 5 lb bags is the whole answer, and you can place the first one yourself.

Black wire shelving in the shop stacked with white and black Golden Hopper coffee bags in several sizes, alongside jars of local honey, boxed French presses, mugs and a spinner rack of note cards. Against the red wall on the right, a rolling bakery rack holds packaged coffee cake, cookies, energy bites and granola.
The shelf at 231 E Main St, next to the bakery rack.

Buy bags off that shelf any day we are open, and taste your way through the lineup first. Honduras and the Espresso Blend are almost always there, at least three others rotate through, and the black coffee we brew changes daily. We run extra sales in person, too.

More than coffee

The chocolates and the granola can go on the same order

Our espresso bean chocolates and our Good-For-You Granola sell wholesale as well: on a counter by the register, in a gift box, on a hotel breakfast table.

Questions

Wholesale questions, answered straight

Can we get our own bag, with our own name on it?

Yes, and it is the thing we would most like to do for you. Send us a logo and a name and we make the bags — 12 oz, 2 lb or 5 lb, the same three we use ourselves. If you need the artwork designed or the labels ordered, we can help with that too. Anything outside those three sizes, ask before you plan around it.

What does wholesale cost?

Ask us and we will quote your account. The minimum is $150, invoicing is net 30, and the samples are free, so you can taste it before any money changes hands. The rate itself depends on what you are buying and how often, so we price each account rather than publish one number.

Can you grind it for us?

On a wholesale order we would rather send you whole bean, and we can grind smaller orders. Tell us the machine, espresso, drip, pour over, French press, cold brew or a commercial urn, and we grind for that machine.

On the website there is no restriction at all, and the grind chart is on our Coffee Lab page.

Can we wholesale anything besides coffee?

Yes. Our espresso bean chocolates and our Good-For-You Granola can both go on a wholesale order alongside the coffee.

The granola is oats, almonds, walnuts, maple syrup, olive oil, flax seed, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt, and it is labelled CONTAINS NUTS. There is no wheat in it, but we do not call anything here gluten free. Our own sign puts it this way. Our gluten friendly items are made with gluten free ingredients. However, items are processed in a facility that contains flour. Because equipment is not specifically designated for gluten free items, they cannot be deemed celiac safe.

What does shipping cost?

In the United States, orders of $35 or more ship free, and anything under $35 is one flat $8 to any address.

We ship abroad too, at the rate the carrier quotes at checkout: twenty-seven named countries plus a rest-of-world zone. The Trio ships free whatever it comes to. Most orders leave within a day or two, and USPS usually takes 2 to 5 days after that. More on the shipping and delivery page.

Do you deliver?

In Belmond, yes, and it is free. Pick free delivery at checkout, the same way you would pick any other shipping option. There is no minimum order, no cutoff time, and any address in town counts.

Can we change or cancel an order?

Yes, any time before it ships. Email us and tell us what to change. Most orders leave within a day or two, so the sooner you write the better.

On a standing order, tell us a week before the planned date. You get a confirmation email straight away and a tracking email when it goes out; if a package runs late, write to us then too, with no waiting period.

What if a bag is not right?

You have 30 days from getting your order. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com and describe the issue, and you choose what happens next: a full refund, or a replacement. Coffee is perishable, so nothing has to be shipped back to us.

Refunds typically appear within 3 to 5 business days, and our policy is to reply within one business day. The full wording is on the refund policy page.

Can you cater an event, or hold a big order for us to collect?

Yes to all of it. Brewed coffee for an event, a stack of bags for a group, or holding an order back so you can come and collect it rather than have it shipped. Email thegoldenhopperllc@gmail.com and ask. We are open to anything.

And a one-off order stays a one-off.
